Frenship FFA Competes in the AG Olympics

The Olympics may be over for the United States, but not for our Frenship FFA students. This past week, during their meeting they hosted AG Olympics, a series of fun competitions and team building.

“AG Olympics allows the FFA members to develop their ability to work in a team while going through the activities,” said Natalie Hill, Frenship FFA Chapter Officer. “The Ag Olympics consist of five games; Sponge Race, Official Dress Race, Three-Legged Race, PVC Basketball Showing Relay, and Egg Toss.”

When the students arrived, they were divided up into two groups where they competed for points. The team that won received raffle tickets that will go into a drawing for door prizes at the end of the school year during the Frenship FFA banquet.

Avery Martinez, Frenship FFA Chapter Officer, believes that activities like this build leadership skills and allow students to learn more about other members in the chapter.

“This allows the members to not only get to know each other but also engage in activities that will help their own personal leadership skills,” said Martinez. “In FFA we have members in 9th-12th grade as well as our Junior FFA who range between 3rd-8th grade, and throughout these events allow members to interact outside of the classroom.”

Kelsea Jones, Agricultural Science Teacher at Frenship High School enjoys seeing the growth developed in students who are involved in FFA. She shares that they gain numerous leadership skills that will benefit them after high school.

“The FFA allows students to build skills that are needed in the real world such as leadership, speaking skills, teamwork, and so much more,” said Jones. “Being involved in organizations like the FFA allows them to build those personal qualities that will help them in whatever career path they go down the road. It offers a unique experience to network with other students from across Texas as well.”
