Frenship ISD is proud to welcome Sydney Sexton back to the Frenship Family as she steps into the role of Executive Director of Leadership and Development.
Sexton began her education journey at Frenship in 1996 as an English Language Arts teacher at the original junior high campus. In 2000, she was named Frenship Secondary Teacher of the Year and later served as a curriculum technologist. After years of working in central office leadership roles and education service centers across the region, Sexton says returning to Frenship is a meaningful full-circle moment.
“I began my teaching career in Frenship at the original junior high in 1996, and with regional education leadership, I've had my eye on Frenship and their successes for many years,” said Sexton. “Joining a growing and thriving district is a welcomed challenge and opportunity!”
Sexton has held numerous leadership positions throughout her career, including roles at Canyon ISD, Region 17, and Region 16. Her work has spanned from ELA and GT specialist to Director of Educational Services, school improvement specialist, executive coach, and Director of District Systems. She has also served as a school board trainer, mentoring district leaders across the state.
“Joining the Frenship ISD team is coming home for me, but it also is an exciting challenge,” said Sexton. “I value joining this powerful team as we row together in the work!”
As she looks ahead to the 2024–2025 school year, Sexton says she is energized by the opportunity to support campus leaders as they navigate growth and transformation.
“Growth shifts culture, so supporting the campus leadership teams as they redefine and reset around growth is so important and exciting,” said Sexton. “Leadership is my passion as it defines priorities, lives in strategy, and serves the community. We will all show up beautifully for all the Big Cats of Frenship ISD!”
Sexton and her husband, Blaine, known to many as “Coach Sexton,” share a long history with the district. Blaine taught and coached at Frenship for many years before retiring in 2017. The two even taught down the hall from each other before marrying 20 years ago.
“We passed notes to each other in our workroom mailboxes!” said Sexton.
Frenship ISD is proud to welcome Sydney Sexton back to the district in this leadership role and looks forward to the incredible work ahead.
Welcome back, Mrs. Sexton!
