🎨 What We’re Focusing on in the Art Room

2026–2027 School Year

This year, students will explore, create, experiment, and grow as young artists! Each grade level will build on their skills while discovering new ways to express their creativity.

🖍️ Kindergarten & 1st Grade
Our youngest artists will explore the Elements of Art, discover their individual creativity, and strengthen important fine-motor skills through fun, hands-on projects. We’ll also be fine-tuning our scissor and gluing skills along the way!

🎨 2nd & 3rd Grade
Students will revisit and build upon their understanding of the Elements of Art while beginning to explore how art connects to the world around us. We’ll discover artists, cultures, ideas, and inspiration from our everyday surroundings.

🖌️ 4th & 5th Grade
Our older artists will continue developing their individual creativity while diving deeper into art history, artistic styles, and a variety of techniques. Students will have opportunities to experiment with collage, printmaking, sculpture, and more as they develop their own artistic voices.

Welcome! My name is Stephanie, a.k.a. Mrs. Lara, and I have the privilege of teaching Art here at Ridgewood!

A little bit about me; I have been with Frenship ISD since 2017 and have been teaching Art since 2023.

My personal Art beliefs:

I believe every kiddo is an artist; they just need to be reminded how capable they are!

I believe every piece of art communicates something important about the artist; get curious!

I believe art is a great form of therapy. Many of our art pieces will involve talking about positive affirmations, self-reflection, and regulating emotions in a safe, healthy way!

I believe art is more than just drawing or painting. Art involves creative thinking, storytelling, problem-solving and so much more!

Bob Ross is our art room "mascot," so feel free to look up some of his episodes on YouTube with your student! Feel free to send an email if you have any questions.
